100 mile club participants can earn 1.5 miles (one loop) or 3 miles (2 loops).
This is a free event for all ages and skill levels (stroller friendly). This is part of a triathlon (3 mile run/walk, 10 mile bike and 150 yd swim). You do not need to participate in the other events, but are welcome to if you would like. Those that want to bike MUST wear a helmet. The event/ time clock starts at 7:30, so come earlier to check-in. There will be a “Same day sign up” line and a “Pre-registered” line. All participants must fill out a waiver before participating. When you register, please place “100 MC” in the “Other” field. When you finish, look for Marla the finish line for your 100MC paper to take back to your school. Good Luck getting your 100 Miles!
Here is some more information about the event:
Like last year, this event will be a REVERSE TRIATHLON: run, bike, swim. Athletes can participate in all events or choose individual events. Race time will begin promptly at 7:30 AM. All athletes must complete the swim portion by 10:30AM. If you are NOT in the pool by 10:30 AM you will NOT be allowed to complete the full Triathlon. This event is free to all athletes but the sponsor of this event must rent the pool, life guard and facility personnel. Closing the pool portion of the event at 10:30 allows a half hour for swimmers to finish their race, to clean up and set the facility in order for RCC.
Check-In will be by the older RCC POOLs at from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM for all athletes. Those who have not yet signed up may do so at the Check-In. There will be a ‘pre-registered’ line as well as a ‘same day register’ line. We encourage everyone to pre-register so that check-in will be smooth for both the athletes and the volunteers. If you decide to change the events in which you participate on race day, our staff will do their best to make adjustments in the computer system but there is no guarantee that your times will match the change you made to your events. If you are late to registration, you may participate but you will NOT receive a time.
You will receive your event packet that will include a bib/number and timing devices that you will wear at check-in. You will also be “Marked”; your bib number will be written on your right arm and your age on the back of your right calf.
All athletes will begin at the same time, with a single running clock.
Triathletes will run, then transition to bike then transition for the swim and complete their race with a short run to the finish line.
All other athletes will complete their respective leg(s) of the race in the same order as the triathletes; for example if you are going to run then swim do so in that order OR bike and then swim, do so in that order.
Those who are only biking will start ahead of the athletes on foot and MUST be cautious in the areas where bikers and runners share the road.
The course will be similar as years past but there may be last minute changes to the course that are beyond our control. Please review the event day information board with maps of the different courses and other important information. Also, prior to the beginning of the race, the race master will give a final briefing of the events, course(s) and rules.
This is an electronically timed race. There will be a single or multiple RFID chip(s) that you will be directed to wear during the race. IF YOU DO NOT WEAR THE RFID CHIP(S) AS DIRECTED YOU WILL NOT GET A TIME.
Once you finish all your events your RFID chip(s) will be removed and returned to the officials. Please do not walk through, around or near the timing area while wearing your RFID chip(s) WHEN you are done with your event(s) because the timing gear will pick up your ID and completely mess up your times.
Please follow the direction of all course volunteers during the race, their first priority is your safety. They are volunteers so please be patient with them, they are doing the best they can!
*The Run is 3 miles long.
*The Street bike follows the same path as the run for a short distance, then continues on the Santa Ana River trail. The total distance of this race is 10 miles.
*The Swim is 150 yards long, and will be done in a snake pattern completing 6 lengths of the pool. Upon completing the swim, a brief run is required to the finish line. This can be done in bare feet, or sandals can be left at poolside during the swim.
*The Results will be posted on the website (under ‘Results’ tab) within 2-3 days of the completion of the event.
Remember to bring and take home:
**ENOUGH WATER FOR EACH LEG OF THE EVENT**
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
